Constance Awuni took the Ladies Group A, beating F. Okyie Gyeabour, while Gladys Awuni won the Ladies Group B edging Ellen Appah.

The event which was organised by telecommunication giant MTN Ghana was aimed at honouring the Okyehene Osagyefo Amoatia Ofori Panin as he marks 20th anniversary as the King of Okyeman saw Maggie Oduro getting the top prize with 21 points, while Joe Dadson who got 30 points over 20 handicaps was beaten to second position by Charles Martey with 38 points in 13 handicaps in the Seniors Division.

Longest Drives accolade were won by Elizabeth Captan and Jerry Tetteh whiles Constance Awuni also shared the Closest To The Pin glory with Christopher Mbii.

In a speech delivered by the Board Chairman, Ishmael Yamson, MTN praised the Okyehene for his contribution towards the development of Okyeman and Ghana as whole

“Your reign, as the Okyenhene, has been characterized by numerous initiatives resulting from a deep understanding of the socio-economic needs of your people. This is not unique to only Okyenman. Indeed, the country as a whole has benefitted from your drive to see your people prosper. Your numerous initiatives on the environment bring to the fore the critical role the chieftaincy institution plays in today’s world”.

“You keep redefining the frontiers of traditional authority in Ghana and as we have done in the past, MTN Ghana will continue in any way that we can to support you and your initiatives in the coming years. In view of our relationship with Osagyefo and as custom demands, we are commemorating the celebrations with a cash donation of GHc100, 000.00”

“To celebrate your 20th year upon ascension to the throne, we are here to provide a different feel from the traditional activities and connect on the golf course with Okyenhene and people from Okyenman who are also business people and understand the benefits of playing golf to unwind and share ideas. As we all know, in golf the way you accept, respond to and score with your misses makes a great difference”.

“This concept is very similar to what we in the business environment do. Creating a successful and profitable business has more to do with the lessons and insights gained from the market than the money made. I dare say that it is for this reason we see a lot of business executives participating in golf tournaments. For us, we see the Okyehene as one who is receptive to the concept and as we celebrate the past 20 years, we are looking forward to more years of success for Okyenman”.

Ninety (90) top golfers from all the golf clubs in Ghana and some Chief Executives from various companies took part in the tournament at the CRIG Golf Club in Akyem Tafo.
