Former President and flagbearer of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama, has called on Ghanaians to take control of their destinies by voting out the Akufo-Addo/Bawumia administration in the upcoming December 7, 2024, general elections.

Addressing a large crowd of NDC supporters at the Jubilee Park in Tamale, Mahama stressed the need for change to address the nation’s current economic crisis.

In his speech, Mahama criticized the current administration for leading the nation into economic turmoil, stating, “We cannot correct the mess if we have the very people who created them in government.” He urged Ghanaians to send a clear message to the world and potential investors that they are serious about reversing the economic downturn by voting for a new leadership.

Mahama also assured the crowd of his commitment to hard work and effective governance. “We have the men, although not as our main opponents the NPP made us believe in 2016,” he said, expressing confidence in the capability of his team to bring about the desired change.

The event marked the official launch of the NDC’s campaign for the 2024 general elections, drawing thousands of enthusiastic supporters. GTV’s Breakfast Show correspondent, Darroll Allan Tagoe, reported from the scene, capturing the fervent atmosphere as the NDC outlined its vision for the future.

As the NDC kicks off its campaign, Mahama’s message of change and economic revival is expected to resonate with many Ghanaians dissatisfied with the current administration. The Ghana Broadcasting Corporation will continue to provide comprehensive coverage of the electoral campaigns and all major political events leading up to the December elections.
