The District Chief Executive (DCE) of Bongo, Peter Ayinbisa Ayamga, has said that a shea butter processing factory is to be constructed in the Bongo District of the Upper East Region under the One District One Factory initiative.

He said that the documentation process for the construction the factory has been finalized by the Business Advisory Center (BAC) and the Rural Enterprise Program. This would start this month at Borigo, a town on Bongo.

The DCE said these at a Meet-the-Press-Series in Bongo on Friday (November 1), to explain the execution of government’s flagship programs and other social interventions to the press and the citizenry, at Bongo.

Mr. Ayamga also stated that over 200 jobs would be created for the youth and that 50 youth from the area have already been selected to manage the factory when it begins operation.

He said that the factory would also boost the growth and development of the local economy of the district.

Mr. Ayamga said that the implementation of the Planting for Food and Jobs (PFJ) program has brought an improvement in the agricultural sector.

He mentioned 12,953 farmers had benefited from the program in the district over the past three years and also 102 people have received goats, sheep, and Guinea fowl among others under the Rearing for Food and Jobs.
