Soon the Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Attah would appear in Parliament to present the 2020 Fiscal and Financial Policy.
What are the inputs from the Trades Union Congress (TUC) as far as Workers Wages and Salaries and Working Conditions are concerned?
Radio Ghana’s George Ankrah finds out from the TUC Secretary-General, Dr. Anthony Yaw Baah how workers’ concerns would be addressed because the agreed minimum wage is woefully inadequate and has been eroded in advance by price hikes.
Dr. Baah said the Union spends twenty-four hours thinking about workers’ welfare. He also explained further what workers should expect in the Budget.
Dr. Baah said government has asked the Union to make an input for consideration in order to meet their aspirations.
Meanwhile, the TUC Secretary-General, Dr. Anthony Yaw Baah has admitted that the Union has concerns with arrangements for the implementation of the Tier-2 Pension Scheme from next year (2020).
He has therefore advised government to tread cautiously with the transition to avoid shortchanging beneficiaries of their emoluments by the Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT).
