Stanbic Bank Ghana on Tuesday donated GH¢ 20,000 to the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) in Accra.
The donation is towards the 70th Anniversary celebration of the Association.
The President of the GJA, Roland Affail Monney, who received the donation said the GJA awards had grown over the years, “because we lean on strategic donors like Stanbic”.
He expressed appreciation for the donation on behalf of the GJA and thanked the bank for being supportive of GJA’s cause over the years.
Mr. Monney observed that there was every reason to celebrate journalists because of the immense role they played in all aspects of national growth, citing that journalists had greatly contributed towards Ghana becoming known as a beacon of democracy in West Africa.
He said journalists would strive even harder, to ensure that the developmental needs of the country were well addressed.
The Manager of Communications, Stanbic Bank, Kojo Akoi-Larbi, said the bank deemed it an honour to be part of the GJA’s anniversary celebration.
He commended the GJA for upholding high journalism standards in the country, adding that a vibrant media was crucial to the progress of any nation.
Mr. Akoi-Larbi said the donation was just a token of support from the bank, adding, “Keep striving for excellence and it would pay off.”
The 70th Anniversary celebration of the GJA would be climaxed with an awards night in Accra on November 23, 2019.
