A former Secretary-General of the United Nations, Ban Ki-moon and the founder of “The Jack Ma Foundation and Alibaba Group”, Jack Ma have paid separate courtesy calls on President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo at Jubilee House, in Accra on Friday.
The visit is ahead of the maiden edition of the Africa Netpreneurship Summit, which will be held at the Accra International Conference, on Today (Saturday).
The Africa Netpreneur Prize Initiative, the first to be held at the Accra.
President Akufo-Addo and Ban Ki Moon met when they were both Foreign Ministers of their respective countries.
President Akufo-Addo recalled his experience when he virtually became the “campaign manager” for Ban Ki Moon when he was contesting for the UN Secretary-General position.
He said the framework of the SDG’s took place under Ban Ki-moon’s tenure as Secretary-General.
For his part, Ban Ki-Moon expressed his delight to be in Ghana to participate in Jack Ma’s initiative.
He congratulated President Akufo-Addo for the extraordinary leadership that has enable Ghana recorded impressive economic development and the country’s image that has soured higher among the comity of nations.
Jack Ma, for his part commended Ghana as the host of the Netpreneur Summit which is a platform that provides young African entrepreneurs how to leverage digitalisation to improve on their entrepreneurship skills.
He said he’s in the country to teach and share knowledge with African’s young entrepreneurs how to network and partner others to expand their businesses.
He commended President Akufo-Addo for providing strong leadership to propel, not only Ghana, but the rest of Africa to take its rightful position.
President Akufo-Addo said, his government is committed to the growth of SME’s and entrepreneurship as it is the only key to transforming the country’s economy.
