Upper Manya Krobo secures land for 1D1F

The Upper Manya Krobo District Assembly has secured seven acres of land to establish gari processing factory under the one district one factory policy.

The project, which will be funded by Exim bank will provide jobs for more than 200 people in the district. The NPP Communication Officer for Upper Manya Krobo constituency, Joseph Kofi Numekevor, made this known on GBC Sunrise FM’s Dangme programme dubbed, “Noryam be” which means development hour.

He said two thousand farmers have been registered to grow cassava to feed the factory. Mr. Numekevor said the factory will produce gari, starch for cloth making and starch spray among others. He stated that all the necessary documentation and processes to begin the project have been done and construction will begin next year.

Speaking on the school feeding programme, Mr Numekevor said 16 basic schools in the district are currently benefiting from the programme. They include Akohi Anglican Primary, Akute D/A primary, Akumesu Yiti primary and Odometa D/A primary. He said efforts are being made by the Assembly to get all the basic schools enrolled unto the programme.

The 2020 budget statement presented by the Finance Minister; Ken Ofori Atta captured some major roads in the district which will be tarred next year. Mr. Numekevor urged the people in the district to rally behind the government to achieve the Ghana beyond aid agenda.
