All is set for the 35th edition of the National Farmers’ today, December 6, 2019 in the Volta Regional capital, Ho.
Ghana National Farmers’ Day is a national holiday. It is an annual celebration of farmers and fishermen, celebrated on the first Friday of December.
Today’s event which is on the theme: “Enhancing small scale agriculture towards agribusiness development”, will honour some 150 best farmers and fishermen across the country.
The Ho Jubilee Park has received major facelifts to host the event, expected to be graced by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, members of the diplomatic corps and some development partners.
All hotels in the Regional capital are reportedly full, with some guests lodging with residents.
The Agricultural Development Bank, (ADB) Sunday, organised a cocktail party for some industry players and stakeholders to set the tone for the celebration.
The Volta Regional Minister Dr. Archibald Yao Letsa, also held a welcome night party in honour of the awardees and also attended by some other dignitaries, on Monday, December 2, 2019 at his residence.
A week-long agricultural exhibition and trade fair opened by the Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia heralds the grand durbar and the award ceremony on Friday .
The Chief Director at the Volta Regional Coordinating Council, Felix Chaahaah, said this year’s celebration promised to be unique and the best of all.
