The Teacher Unions, the National Association of Graduate Teachers (NAGRAT), the Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT), and the Coalition of Concerned Teachers (CCT) failed to turn up at a meeting with the National Labour Commission (NLC) Tuesday, December 10. The meeting was supposed to determine the way forward.

The Teacher Unions are demanding payment of salary arrears owed their members between 2012 and 2015.

The Unions have asked government to pay all the arrears before they call off the strike.

In an interview with GBC’s Radio Ghana, national president of GNAT, Philipa Larsen said all the three unions did not attend the meeting.

The strike by the three Teacher Unions entered day two December 10 with public schools being the hardest hit.

Most schools which started their terminal examination had to suspend it because of the strike.
