Asantehene cautions politicians against personality attacks in campaigns

Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu has advised politicians against personality attacks to ensure smooth campaigning towards this year’s general elections.

He said provocative language and attacks on political opponents are not healthy for democratic development.

Otumfuo Osei Tutu made this remark at a Thanksgiving Service at the Manhyia Palace in Kumasi under the auspices of the Asante Presbytery of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana.

The Thanksgiving Service marked the 10th anniversary of the Evangelism Mission to the Palace embarked on by the Asante Presbytery. A special Thanksgiving service is always held at the Manhyia Palace on New Year’s Day with Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu as the Guest of Honour.

The Moderator of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana, Right Reverend Prof. J.O. Y. Mantey praised Asantehene for promoting peace, development across the country.

He called for attitudinal change hard work, to improve the economic fortunes of the country.

Asantehene Otumfuo Osei commended the leadership of the Presbyterian Church for its values and moral principles that continue to shape the wellbeing of the citizenry. He stressed the need to sustain national peace.

Asantehene was honoured with a citation for his immense contribution to national peace and development.
