Government deploys about 300 ambulances across Ghana Today

Government will from today deploy more than 300 Ambulances, 300 Emergency Medical Technicians, Drivers, support staff as well as 30 Dispatch riders to 275 constituencies across the country.

This is part of efforts to give a major boost to emergency healthcare services.

The Ambulances were procured under the government Infrastructure for Poverty Eradication Programme currently being implemented by the Ministry of Special Development Initiatives.

The Ambulances were initially due for inauguration on January 6, 2020 but was postponed to Tuesday, January 28 to allow for the training of Emergency Medical Technicians and arrival of other vehicles.

Addressing a news conference in Accra Minister of Information Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, said the procurement of the Ambulances will create jobs for more than a thousand young people.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Special Development initiatives has developed a five year service plan with the suppliers to ensure strict maintenance of the 307 ambulances.

At a media briefing in Accra Deputy Director of operations at the Ghana Ambulance Service, Forster Ansong-Bridjan said the service is ready to take delivery of the ambulances to ensure smooth health care delivery.
