As Ghana gets ready to commemorate her 63rd Independence next month with the Ashanti region as the host, one organisation that cannot be left out in the entire celebration is the Ghana Tourism Authority, GTA.

As the anniversary gets closer, GBC’s Ashanti Regional Correspondent, Akosua Frema Frempong finds out the readiness of the GTA and other organisations in the hospitality sub-sector for the anniversary.

The Ashanti region  has over the years  contributed to the country’s development especially  the political, historical, cultural, business and commerce aspects.

It is therefore not out of place for the government to choose the regional capital Kumasi, to host the 63rd Independence Anniversary commemoration. This  year’s celebration code-named “Kumasi 2020” is on the theme: ‘Consolidating Our Gains”.

With the celebration getting closer, the influx of visitors from within the country and beyond is  expected. The  hospitality industry  therefore  is  one of such   areas to see a major boost during this celebration ,an  area under the supervision of the Ghana Tourism Authority.

The Ashanti Regional Office of the Ghana Tourism Authority  says it is  taking proactive steps to position players in the hotel and Catering service sector ahead of the start of the programme.

The Senior Quality Assurance Officer  of the Authority who doubles as the Head of Enforcement in the region, Matthew Osei Prempeh, took Radio Ghana through the preparations being made for the event.

Mr. Osei Prempeh also spoke about plans for security, safety and the health of everyone including preventive measures against  COVID 19  which  is fast spreading globally.

Mr. Osei Prempeh noted that Tour Guides and local communities are also being oriented to take advantage of the event to increase revenue generation.
