A Ranking Member on the Health Committee, Parliament of Ghana, Kwabena Mintah-Akandoh has reiterated the need for the President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and members of his recent delegation to Europe to be monitored.
He said this in an interaction with the media in Parliament when Health Minister, Kwaku Agyeman-Manu, briefed legislators on Ghana’s preparedness against the virus on Wednesday, March 4.
The president on his European tour visited Norway where cases of the deadly virus have been detected.
There are calls for President Akufo-Addo to undergo detailed checks and quarantined upon return from his European tour in the wake of the Coronavirus outbreak in Europe; however, the Ghana Health Service has dismissed calls for the President to be quarantined.
According to the Ghana Health Service, quarantining the president is out of the picture.
But Kwabena Mintah-Akandoh, Ranking Member- Health Committee, MP for Juaboso Constituency who is also a member of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), maintained: “monitoring President Akufo-Addo and his recent delegation to Europe will be in line with guidelines given by Ministry of health and the Ghana Health Service.”
