Suspected syndicate arrested in Techiman

Police in the Bono East Regional capital, Techiman, have arrested a 34-year old suspected criminal gang member at Aboabo near Techiman on the Techiman-Wenchi highway.

The Techiman Divisional Crime Officer, DSP Kofi Sarkodie who confirmed this to GBC’s Radio Ghana said the suspect, Stephen Debuo, was traveling in a commercial bus from Wenchi to Techiman.

He said the suspect is a resident of Kenten in Techiman and was arrested by the Divisional Patrol team after weapons were found in his bag on the vehicle he was traveling with after a stop and search.

Illegal items found on him included two locally manufactured pistols, money, two 12 bow live cartridges, torchlight and suspected Indian hemp among others.

He said the suspect claimed to be a mechanic in Techiman Magazine and a farmer at Wenchi but was traveling to Techiman for a funeral.

DSP Kofi Sarkodie said thorough investigations will be delved into the matter to disclose the source of his weapons.

He revealed that crime rate in Techiman has declined in recent times thanks to the efforts of the Police.
