Families have been urged desist from putting the social burden of infertility on women alone as male infertility accounts for about 40 percent of the problem.

According to a Fertility Specialist, Dr. Nana Henaku Larbi, society must move away from blaming only women for childlessness in marriages urging couples to seek medical solutions.

Dr. Henaku-Larbi gave the advice during a seminar organised by a Non-Governmental Organization, the Love, Move and Have Your Being, at Frafraha in the Adentan Municipality.

He said when couples have difficulty starting a family, especially in the African setting, it can become extremely distressing and emotionally challenging, with society often holding the women responsible.

He added that though many reasons can account for infertility in couples, it is advisable that couples seek medical attention after one year into the marriage.

The Founder of Love, Move and Have Your Being, an NGO, Baaba Kofie, said the seminar sought to clear the misconception about assisted conception particularly among Christians.
