The Biakoye District Chief Executive, Comfort Attah, has asked residents in the District who engage the services of Fulani herdsmen to ensure they adhere to the laws of the land or face appropriate sanctions.

She added that all traditional leaders and community members should direct the Fulani herdsmen to the District Assembly for registration and permission before welcoming them into their homes and communities.

Madam Comfort Attah was speaking during a DISEC meeting at Nkonya-Ahinkro the District capital of Oti Rigion.

The activities of Fulani herdsmen over the years have become a major concern for residents in parts of the Ashanti, Eastern and Volta regions. Some of them have been accused of raping their victims, destroying farms and even murdering others.

Some of their victims are in the Biakoye District. It is against this backdrop that a DISEC meeting was organised by the Assembly to find a lasting solution to the problem.

The District Chief Executive, Comfort  Attah expressed worry about the activities of the herdsmen and their cattle in the District.

She therefore asked Assembly members and traditional leaders to ensure adequate monitoring of their operations.
