The Lekma Hospital is recording an increase in the number of patients that call at the Hospital following the closure of the La General Hospital. Due to this, the LEKMA Hospital is compelled to place more chairs outside the Out-Patient’s Depart to contain the clients.

The La General Hospital has been closed down for redevelopment into a modern health facility. This was due to the dilapidated nature of the facility which made it unsafe for staff and patients. The situation has led to most patients resorting to patronage of close-by health facilities including the LEKMA Hospital.

However, with the outbreak of the coronavirus, the Hospital is doing its best to heed to the government and World Health Organisation’s protocols.

Speaking to GBC’s Radio Ghana, the Medical Superintendent of the LEKMA Hospital, Dr. Akua Gyimah-Asante, called for more staff and consumables to be able to contain the increasing numbers especially in the face of COVID-19.

Dr. Gyimah-Asante reiterated the call on Ghanaians to practice social distancing, regular hand washing and other preventive measures outlined by the government.
