The First Lady, Rebecca Akufo-Addo has commended all parents especially those with children with disabilities who have become educators and behavioural specialists to ensure that their future is bright.

In a statement to mark World Autism Day, Mrs Akufo Addo said she recognizes the efforts of parents especially during this period of the coronavirus pandemic and have taken over their children’s routine education and development growth due to the closure of schools across the country. She said as a mother, she acknowledges the tough role of a parent and seeing parents take on more roles to serve their children in this time of crisis is truly heartwarming.

The First Lady notes that this period is particularly challenging for children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) in their late teens, who are ready to start working. She, therefore, reminds parents to provide training and mentorship to help foster the growth of children with disabilities.
