Three industrial firms in Techiman have donated basic protective equipment to the Techiman North District Assembly in the Bono East Region. The items include Veronica buckets with stands, hand sanitisers, tissue paper and boxes of medicated soaps among others.
The donations were put together by the Kingdom Exim Group Ghana, Ghana Nuts Company Limited, Joykem Roofing Company and the CLOSSAG.
It was aimed at hindering the spread of the novel COVID-19 in the Techiman area.
The move, according to leadership of the donor firms, forms part of their contributions to the fight against the disease.
The Techiman branch Manager of Kingdom Exim Ghana Limited, Sanjay Rajan, indicated that it is their pleasure to give support during a crisis like this. He said the COVID-19 situation is a national issue that requires a concerted effort to overcome.
He revealed that, the items donated by his outfit alone values at about ¢75,000.00.
The Techiman North District Disease Control Officer, Kennedy Owusu Ahinsan, commended the donors for their kind gesture but appealed for more.
According to him, health facilities within the Techiman North District lack enough PPEs which pose a lot of risks to the front line health workers.
In brief remarks, the Techiman North DCE, Peter Mensah, who received the items on behalf of government lauded the efforts of the donors and called for all hands to be on deck in tackling the pandemic.
He said the government is doing its utmost best to provide logistics for the Outbreak Response.
He mentioned that, while the district is yet to record any case, the increase of Covid-19 cases must be a wake-up call for all.
