The Concerned Citizens of Ketu South Municipality in The Volta Region has revealed that the closure of Aflao Border to prevent Coronavirus has brought untold hardship to the people of Ketu South Municipality.
According to the spokesperson of the Concerned Citizens, Dan Jerry Sorokpo, in a press release said the closure of the Aflao border in Ketu South Municipality has brought increased financial hardships to the people living within the area whose livelihoods depend hugely on the border being opened.
According to him, the people are now finding it very difficult to get their daily bread and make ends meet and therefore called on government to institute a COVID-19 relief and livelihood support fund to assist the people of Ketu South with immediate effect just as is being done for vulnerable people in other lockdown areas.
The statement came in hours after, what could be described as a shocking news to them, that the District has recorded 6 imported cases of the deadly coronavirus.
The spokesperson of the group called on government to deploy more security men to block all unapproved routes between Ghana and Togo with immediate effect and also put in place more measures to have a lot more checks on the main roads in the municipality.
The group also called for a possible imposition of night curfew especially along the unapproved routes dotting the municipality to help prevent the smuggling of foreigners into Ghana at night.
They further added their voice to demands for more Personal Protective Equipment (PPEs) for health professionals in the Municipality.
