4 Burkinabes arrested for entering Ghana illegally

Four Burkina Faso nationals have been arrested by immigration officials at the Babile inland checkpoint in the Lawra Municipality of the Upper West Region.

A statement signed by the Upper West Regional Public Affairs Officer of the Ghana Immigration Service IbnYusif Durana said the ages of those arrested range between 22 and 39. The statement said the four male Burkinabes were onboard a Hyundai mini bus with registration number AS 3289-11 en route Wa and to Kumasi.

Immigration Control Officer, Duran said preliminary investigations revealed that their migration was for economic purposes.

It has also emerged that they entered Ghana through an un-authorized route within the Hamile Sector Command.

The four were taken through initial health screening at the checkpoint and carried to Hamile Immigration Control for repatriation to their country.

This is the second time Burkina Faso nationals have been arrested within a week on the same route.
