President Akufo-Addo says the death of the Chief Executive of the Forestry Commission, Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie also known as Sir John has come with great shock and deep sadness.

He said the disbelief and grief expressed by many at the news of his death are testimonies to how people in and out the New Patriotic Party (NPP), felt about him.

President Akufo-Addo said as a passionate devotee of the Danquah-Dombo-Busia political tradition, Sir John was an outstanding stalwart of the NPP, strong defender of human rights as a lawyer and proud, faithful adherent of the Christian Adventist faith.

These are the multi-facetted aspects of his career and character which also earned him considerable popularity both as erstwhile General Secretary of the NPP and CEO of the Forestry Commission.

President Akufo-Addo further described Sir John as an energetic, jovial personality who possessed limitless store of folktales and proverbs and thus affected positively every person with whom he came into contact with.

President Akufo-Addo and his wife, Becky, thus extend their deepest condolences to his entire family.

He said this in a Facebook post.
