The Bono Regional recovery cases for COVID-19 has from the previous 89 to 347.
Also, the region’s active cases now stand at 74 out of the 421 confirmed cases. The Deputy Bono Regional Director of Public Health, Dr. John Ekow Otoo who revealed this in an interview, said out of the 74 active cases, only two are at the treatment center showing mild symptoms with the remaining 72 who are asymptomatic self-isolating while being monitored by the GHS.
The Bono Region has tested a total of 3,260 samples for COVID 19 as a result of the enhanced surveillance system. 1,571 test results have been received out of the 3,260 samples with 287 samples returning positive for COVID-19 bringing the region’s total count to 421. Out of the 421 cases, 347 persons have so far recovered with no deaths.
Over 1,689 results are still pending. These results come in piecemeal. The Deputy Bono Regional Director of Public Health of the GHS, Dr. John Ekow Otoo who revealed this said, it is possible that the region could see a jump in the positive cases recorded so far.
Dr. John Ekow Otoo stressed that the number of health workers infected with the virus has also increased from 46 to 217 with most of them recovering. Because there is a local transmission and most of the cases are asymptomatic, Dr. Otoo, therefore, stressed the need for the general public to adhere to the wearing of face mask, ensuring social distancing and washing of hands with soap under running water protocols as it is key as far as COVID-19 is concern.
