The Programmes Manager of the National AIDS/STI Control Programme, Dr. Stephen Ayisi Addo, has admitted that Ghana’s stock of Antiretroviral drugs is depleted.
Speaking at a virtual meeting to release the 2019 National AIDS estimates, he said due to the COVID-19 pandemic, there have been delays in receiving commodities already ordered for.
He said the situation has led to the current rationing of the lifesaving drug for persons living with HIV.
The Director General of the Ghana AIDS Commission, Kyeremeh Atuahene, said the current situation with HIV Drugs and Test Kits, is not that dire as there are stocks for the time being.
He said the Commission is in talks with its partners for more drugs to be made available.
