A Finance Minister under the Rawlings regime, Prof. Kwesi Botchwey, has dispelled suggestions that it is only persons with economics background that fit the Vice Presidential position of slot.
According to him, anyone who is at articulate and understands the fundamentals of governance fits that position.
Responding to what he makes of the NDC running mate, Prof. Kwesi Botchwey said she has proven track records to partner the flagbearer to capture power come December 7.
Prof. Botchwey’s name came up for selection as running to the flagbearer, but according to him, there is the need to step back and allow others to take up the leadership mantle.
“I think that every party, our party especially, must forge generational transition so that we the older ones can step back a bit, provide guidance and support when it is sought.”
Meanwhile, First Vice Chairman of the NDC, Kofi Attoh, says the choice of a running mate was a difficult decision for the party as they had a lot of people on the plate.
He said the selection of Prof. Opoku Agyemang could not have come at a better time and the party is elated that she was the final pick.
