General Secretary of the Ghana Journalists Association, Edmund Kofi Yeboah says Journalists must be given a pat on their backs for their dedication and professionalism displayed in their reportage during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Speaking on GBC’S current Affairs Programme Talking Point, Mr. Yeboah said it behooves journalists to churn out the right information to the public to encourage them to turn out in their numbers to vote in the upcoming December election and not boycott voting for fears of contracting Coronavirus.

He stressed that the role of Journalists in the December polls would be very challenging because apart from discharging their duties, they have to equally observe the COVID-19 protocols to stay safe.

Vice President of GJA, Linda Asante-Adjei said the Association together with its partners have rolled out sensitization programmes for journalists to enable them to report accurately during the electioneering.

She said in as much as state-owned media are constitutionally mandated to be impartial to all political parties during the electioneering the private media are no exception as most campaigns will be done through the media.

Those were views of panelists on GBC’s Current Affairs Programme, Talking Point, which discussed COVID-19 and credible elections, the media factor.
