Foreign Retailers operating in Ghana without proper documentation have been given a two-week ultimatum to obtain permit from the Ghana Investment Promotion Company, (GIPC) and satisfy other requirements or face being shut down.
This follows several complaints from the Ghana Union of Traders Association (GUTA) on the influx of foreign retailers into the country.
Since Monday (August 10, 2020), the task force has identified more than 700 illegal foreign retailers at Circle and Abosey Okai.
Public Relations Officer (PRO) of GUTA, Joseph Paddy told Radio Ghana’s Nathaniel Nartey that about 90% of foreign retailers in the country do not have permit.
Mr. Paddy hinted that the duration given the task force to complete its work might not be enough due to the large number of foreign retailers they have to deal with.
