Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has announced government’s intention to set up a National Rental Assistance Scheme to help address the high cost of renting houses in the country.
The scheme is expected to create a platform where workers in the formal sector will be given loans to rent houses and pay monthly deductibles at a lower rate into the revolving Scheme.
Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia added that a hundred million Ghana Cedis has been earmarked for this scheme.
Vice President Bawumia also indicated that government incollaboration with other partners will build low income houses since not everyone can afford the affordable houses being constructed.
Dr. Bawumia said this at the launch of the 2020 Manifesto of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
