It was no surprise that the unofficial theme for this year’s Ghana Music Awards, VGMA was COVID-19. This is evident in the manner the pandemic has affected the music industry, as only 100 people were allowed to witness the event live at the venue, while majority of Ghanaians watched it on Television and online. With the absence of Shatta Wale and Stonebwoy, many expected Sarkodie to win the Artiste of the Year award with ease, but he was beaten to it, by Kwame Eugene. A turn of events an Entertainment Analyst, Arnold Asamoah-Baidoo, described as surprising.
