The Minority Leader in Parliament, Haruna Iddrisu, says the NDC when elected into office will introduce what he calls the ‘John Mahama token for women’ in small enterprises.
According to him, about 90 percent of Ghanaian women have challenges in supporting their businesses, the Policy will therefore be a concessionary interest to help beneficiaries grow their businesses.
Mr. Iddrisu said this when he and some NDC MP’s toured areas in Dodowa in the Shai-Osudoku Constituency.
The visit was to highlight the NDC’s intended policies for execution when voted into power.
They started from the Dodowa Market, then to the residence of the Imam of Dodowa as well as some chiefs and people of Rama Town.
Mr. Iddrisu noted that the nomination of a lady as running mate signifies the former President’s readiness to promote affirmative action in Ghana and check the under-representation of women in the Country.
He urged all, particularly the media to focus on the integrity of the NDC running mate, Naana Opoku Agyemang and her character in public service.
The Member of Parliament for Shai-Osudoku, Linda Ocloo, entreated the electorate to eschew what has come to be known as “skirt and blouse” in the upcoming general election.
“This will help increase and promote socio-economic development in the area, should she and the former President be re-elected.”
The Greater Accra Regional Women’s Organiser of the Party, Felicia Bortey, took the opportunity to inaugurate the Shai-Osudoku NDC Women Working Group. Madam Bortey said the group will go an extra mile in the campaign since the NDC running mate is a woman.
