The Ghana Water Company Limited (GWCL) in the Northern Region may be forced to shut down completely due to flooding by the White Volta and the spillage of the Bagre Dam which have affected its treatment plant at Dulan.
Already, the company has been compelled to shut down two of its three low lift pumps, which draw raw water from the White Volta for processing.
The Northern Regional Chief Manager of GWCL, Amidu Musah said the shutdown will affect water supply to the Tamale Metropolis and surrounding communities since they are now producing a tenth of their capacity.
