The strike declared by the Ghana Registered Nurses and Midwives Association (GRNMA) is still in full flight, at least in the Kumasi metropolis with patients in hospitals visited by GBC’s Radio Ghana bearing the brunt of the absence of the nurses, midwives and other critical healthcare givers.

A visit by Garden City Radio to hospitals in Kumasi and Kwadaso showed low attendance.

At the Kumasi South Hospital at Kyirapatre in the Asokwa Municipality, many patients remained stranded at the OPD with no one attending to them.

Some doctors did double work, a situation that slowed the process of diagnoses. Some of the doctors shared their experience.

The Administrator of the Hospital, which is currently serving as the Ashanti Regional Hospital, Yeboah Gyamfi appealed to the nurses to reconsider their position and resume work for negotiations to continue.
