Ghana Integrity Initiative (GII) has called on the Special Prosecutor, Martin Amidu, to make public all ongoing investigations by his office in accordance with the Act establishing it, Act 2017 (Act 959).
This follows a petition to the Special Prosecutor and his subsequent response to STRANEK, a Civil Society Organisation to investigate the Agyapa deal.
The Special Prosecutor replied that his office had already commenced investigation into the matter.
Programmes Manager of GII, Mary Addah in an interview with GBC’s Nathaniel Nartey said that details expected to be published by the Special Prosecutor should not contain findings from investigations rather it should only inform the public of ongoing investigations.
She said the petition by STRANEK and response by the Special Prosecutor Martin Amidu are in the right direction. However, Ghanaians would have to draw their own conclusions on whether Martin Amidu has lived up to expectations as Special Prosecutor.
