President Akufo-Addo has inaugurated the Western North Regional House of Chiefs, as part of his three-day visit to the Region.
Addressing the gathering, the President, charged the chiefs to be united and promote their culture. They should also partner government in the developmental agenda. He urged them to support the fight against illegal mining to preserve the environment and water bodies.
President Akufo-Addo used the opportunity to express his heartfelt appreciation to Nananom for their efforts in the fight against COVID-19.
The President cut the sod for the construction of a modern Regional House of Chiefs Office Complex and also commissioned the fourth Zipline centre in Sefwi Wiawso.
The Religious and Chieftaincy Minister, Kofi Dzamesi, congratulated the Chiefs and urged them to ensure peace and abide by the rules of the house.
He reiterated government’s commitment to chieftaincy institutions in the country.
Meanwhile, Government has increased the producer price of cocoa from GH¢540 to GH¢660. This means a bag of cocoa has been increased by about 39%.
