The Mortuary Workers Association of Ghana (MOWAG) has warned of a nationwide strike from October 1, 2020, if government fails to resolve what they described as their “intolerable working conditions”.
According to the Association, their long-standing grievances of working under dangerous conditions including the inhalation of cancer-causing chemicals and other issues like unresolved salary, promotions and allowances issue have fallen on deaf ears for far too long and must be resolved.
In a statement issued in Accra, MOWAG mentioned the non-provision of adequate Personal Protective Equipment as they go about their operations.
Moreover, their members have been exempted from the 50 percent motivation promised all front-line health workers, even though they have petitioned the President to add them to the beneficiaries.
