The Chairman of the National Council on Persons with Disabilities, Yaw Ofori-Debra has sent an SOS to organizations and agencies offering relieve to people in areas affected by floods in the regions of the North to take extra interest in the wellbeing of persons with disability.
In an interview with Augustu Acquaye, he said the practice over the years has been that in times of disaster, PWDS are left to their fate, an act that contravenes the UN Convention on the rights of PWDS.
He said PWDS are equally vulnerable group who deserve care and support.
