Workers retiring this year are getting depressed as their pension benefits from Tier Two is five times lower than what they would have received under PNDC Law 247.

The workers are being paid a paltry sum of GHC5,000.00 from SSNIT, while the Tier Two Fund Managers are offering 2020 retirees GHC30,000.

The wrong computation was brought to the attention of the TUC Secretary General, Dr. Yaw Baah, who petitioned the President to top up the pensions offered workers, but the situation is yet to be addressed.

Labour Expert, Seth Abloso

Labour Expert, Seth Abloso in an interview said the tripartite committee needs to take an urgent action to restore confidence in the pension scheme.

He said the reforms are to make workers condition better and not worse-off.

Mr. Abloso asked President Akufo-Addo to see the challenges in the pensions reforms as a campaign issue and quickly solve the problem.
