The National Scholarship Secretariat has rounded up its nationwide vetting process in Ho for applicants in the Volta Region.
In all about 300 applicants from the region were interviewed for the scholarship scheme which seeks to support brilliant but underprivileged students at the tertiary education level. The initiative was introduced by government as one of its flagship policies to provide access to education for all Ghanaians.
Deputy Registrar at the National Scholarship Secretariat, Lydia Darko-Acheampong was hopeful the budget allocation for this year’s scholarships will cater for a large number of qualified applicants at tertiary institutions across the country.
She stressed that the Secretariat is embarking on the entire process without recourse to political affiliations but based on merit.
