Togbe Tepre Hodo is new president of Volta Region House Of Chiefs

The Paramount Chief of Anfoega Traditional area, in the North Dayi District, Togbe Tepre Hodo has been elected as the President of the Volta Region House of Chiefs.

In a stiff contest between him and the Awoamefia of Anlo, Togbi Sri, Togbe Tepre Hodo who was formerly the Vice President of the House polled 34 out of 52 votes cast to beat, Togbi Sri who secured 18 votes.

In the Vice Presidential race of the House, the Paramount Chief of Battor, Togbe Patamia polled 28 out of the 52 votes cast to beat the Paramount Chief of Vakpo, Togbe Gbogbolulu who had 22 votes.

There were two rejected ballots.

The Paramount Chief of Avatime, Osie Adza Tekpor who was one of the contestants for the Vice Presidential race withdrew his candidature before the elections and threw his support for Togbe Patamia.

The House also elected the President of the National House of Chiefs, and Agbogbomefia of Asogli, Togbe Afede, the Paramount Chief of Vakpo, Togbe Gbogbolulu and  Paramount Chief of Avenor, Togbi Deglo Anumah as elected members to the National House of Chiefs.

In his victory speech, the President-Elect of the Volta Region House of Chiefs, Togbe Tepre Hodo urged members of the reconstituted House to rally behind the leaders in their quest to develop the Volta Region.
