Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu has criticized the National Media Commission, NMC and the National Commission for Civic Education, NCCE for not living up to their constitutional duties in ensuring enough information out there on the elections.

Mr Mensah Bonsu said not much activism has been seen from these two institutions, adding that the two Independent Governance Institutions must be efficient in order to support the delivery of elections that will be acceptable to all and sundry.

Mr Kyei Mensah Bonsu said this at a forum organized by the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs for Civil Society Organizations in Accra.

The sector Minister noted that CSOs have very critical role to play in the delivery of credible kelections hence the engagement with them.

Meanwhile a Senior Research Fellow at the Institute for Democratic Governance, IDEG Kwesi Jonah says some civil society groups may not be able to adequately deploy Election Observers to monitor the 2020 polls to ensure the process is free, fair, transparent and peaceful.

This, according to him, is due to lack of funds as a result of dwindling donor support occasioned by the COVID 19.

He however, said CSOs like IDEG will do their best in the circumstance despite the challenges.
