Mr. Kofi Koranteng, one the disqualified Presidential aspirants in the next general election scheduled for December 7, 2020 has called on the Electoral Commission to add his name to the list of the Presidential Candidates on the ballot paper.

According to him The Commission has wrongly disqualified him for counterfeiting names and signatories of persons who endorsed his nominations as Independent Presidential Candidate.

Speaking to the Journalists for the first time since his disqualification, Mr. Koranteng said, The EC should be reminded of the recent statement made by President Nana Akufo-Addo to the effect that “Ghana is a Beacon of Democracy for Africa”, and then the EC should not disqualified candidates arbitrarily.

“As I have said from the beginning, my campaign is not about me, it is an affirmation of the democracy of Ghana and the democratic rights of every Ghanaian”, he added.

He stated that, The Electoral Commission has removed the hope, dreams, and future of Ghanaians by disqualifying him, emphasizing that, “if Ghana is to fulfill the 1956 promise of Independence, Freedom and Democracy, it must act to have a transparent, fair and equitable electoral process”.

Mr. Kofi Koranteng, who sees himself as the representative of the People’s Campaign for President of Ghana, stressed that “I am asking that the EC give our campaign the opportunity to correct the small number of errors that have led to our disqualification from the ballot.”

He called on Ghanaians to speak up and demand that they can vote for a free, independent candidate who offers a vision for the future.

“To our ardent supporters along with those that believe in a free democratic Ghana we ask you to send a message and petition to the EC to reverse their unfair, unjust ruling removing us from the ballot”.
