Executive Secretary of the Southern Ghana Union Conference of the Seventh-Day Adventist Church, Dr. Chris Annan Nunoo has asked Ghanaians especially the youth to prioritize peace ahead of the election.
He said Ghana has portrayed itself as a beacon of hope over the years. It is therefore incumbent on all to continue to promote peaceful activities at all times.
Pastor Dr. Nunoo made the call at an ordination at the Accra City Conference of the SDA in Accra.
The ordination Service which was jointly organised by the Accra City conference and Meridian conference both in the Greater Accra Region, saw the induction of 15 pastors into the Adventist Churches.
The ordination was in consonance with the church’s aim to replace retired ministers of the church.
Vice President and ministerial Secretary of the West, Central Africa Division of the SDA Church, Professor Pastor Daniel Opoku-Boateng told GBC’s Radio Ghana the church does not take the training and professional conduct of its pastors for granted.
He said the church has a defined training regime through which the pastors are taken before they are ordained.
Prof. Opoku-Boateng said one has to undergo four years of internship among other requirements before the church can recognize the fellow as its pastor.
In a homily, former President of the Central Ghana Conference of the SDA Church, Pastor Abraham Peter Mensah asked pastors to study the word of God and teach it dutifully.
He also urged them not to compromise the practices of the church, by allowing foreign influences to entice them. He said as Adventist, Christ should always be their focus.

He therefore charged members to discharge their civic responsibility by voting and also ensuring peace at all times.
Prayers were said for successful and peaceful election, the nation and the church.
