Independent MP-elect for Fomena, in the Ashanti Region, Andrew Amoako Asiamah says he will sit with the NPP side in the 8th Parliament, which begins January 7 next year. He made the disclosure in an interview with the Parliamentary Press Corps yesterday.

Explaining, why he decided to join the NPP side in Parliament, Mr. Amoako Asiamah said, his constituency members are in support of the decision, in spite of some disagreements with party executives, before the primaries.

The Fomena MP says his decision to side with the party in the next Parliament is in the interest and growth of Ghana’s democracy.

Mr. Amoako Asiamah is the incumbent MP for Fomena and entered Parliament on the ticket of the NPP.

He however decided to contest the seat in this year’s elections as an independent candidate which moved the leadership of the NPP from Accra to Fomena including President Akufo-Addo to appeal to him to rescind his decision or step aside for the NPP’s selected candidate, Philip Ofori-Asante to contest the elections.
