Doctors to write Licensure exams in 2022- Medical and Dental Council

Chairman of the Medical and Dental Council, Prof Paul Nyame has entreated Private Tertiary Institutions to branch into medicine to produce more doctors for the country.
While congratulating Family Health Medical School (FHMS) for being the first Private Medical School for training and presenting 30 newly trained doctors for induction into the Medical profession, he applauded FHMS students for being part of the pioneering class.
The 30 were among 582 newly qualified Medical and Dental Practitioners to be inducted. Prof. Nyame asked the new Doctors to accept postings to wherever their service will be needed, and never to demand a change.
He advised the inductees to be mindful of the ethics of the profession and take keen interest in the well-being of their patients.
Prof. Paul  Nyame disclosed that effective 2022, Doctors would be made to write Licensure
Examinations before they qualify to practice, as is done in most countries.
The Deputy Minister for Health, Dr. Bernard Okoe Boye, on behalf of the Sector Minister, encouraged the new Doctors to serve humanity with compassion.
A Board Member of the Medical and Dental Council, Dr. Constance Addo Yobo, admonished the new Doctors to serve society with compassion and also apply all the skills and knowledge they have acquired from their various institutions in their practice.
She charged the doctors to give the necessary respect to their Seniors and at the same time, learn from them to gain more experience on the job.
