The Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA), has given all hawkers and traders at the Central Business District of Kumasi up to the close of Saturday, the 30th of January to voluntarily vacate the pavements and streets or face forcible ejection.

In a message to the media in Kumasi, the Public Relations Officer of the Assembly, Henrietta Konadu Aboagye, reminded the traders of their own plea with the KMA, just before the Christmas and New Year festivities, to allow them to ply their trade in the streets to earn income.

The statement noted that, the traders and hawkers gave themselves the 15th of January to voluntarily vacate such unauthorized places in the Central business district in line with what they considered to be a convention.

It warned that, should the concerned traders and hawkers fail to honour their own promise, the KMA will forcibly eject them starting from Sunday, the 1st of February.

The decongestion, according to the statement, will also help to control the spread of Coronavirus in the Metropolis.
