Government has reiterated its commitment to support stakeholders in the cocoa industry to increase cocoa value addition from the current 40 to 50 percent of the total production.
Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia said this in a speech read on his behalf by Minister of Information nominee, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah at the launch of the National Chocolate Week in Accra.
He said adding more value to cocoa will improve local consumption and also generate more foreign exchange for national growth. Ghanaians were also urged to consume more cocoa products to boost their immune system in this era of Covid 19.
