Beo Senior High/Technical School gets teaching and learning materials

Following calls by management and staff of Beo Community Senior High and Technical School in the Bongo District of the Upper East Region to corporate bodies and philanthropists for assistance, the school has received some support of teaching and learning material from philanthropist based in the United Kingdom.

The school, established by the community in 2013 and handled by community members and the Parent Teachers Association, is yet to be absorbed by government.

Due to lack of infrastructure, the Catholic Social Centre in Beo serves as a classroom with the Beo Area Council hall serving as a hostel for the girls while some of the boys are housed in structures put up by the community with support from the Catholic Relief Service.

Speaking at a durbar to handover the teaching and learning materials to authorities of the school, the Paramount Chief of the Bongo Traditional Area, Naba Baba Salifu Atamale Leemyaruum pledged his commitment to liaise with the incoming District Chief executive to get the school absorbed by government.

The Paramount Chief called for all hands on deck approach to get the school absorbed.

The Upper East Regional Director of Education, Edward Azure, urged the leaders in the community to liaise with the District Directorate of Education to initiate processes to get the school absorbed in to the government school system.This he said, will help ease the burden off parents and teachers.

Mr. Azure advised parents, teachers and the community members at larger to ensure that no single item finds its way to the community or individual home.

Receiving the materials, the Assistant Headmaster of the school, John Ayaribire Agaana, expressed appreciation for the gesture and assured that taking delivery of the material will help to ease the financial burden of parents and guardians who have their wards at the school.

Speaking on behalf of her colleague students, Gifty Akugre commended the community for rising to the occasion anytime they are called upon to address any challenge.
