Interior Minister Nominee, Ambrose Dery has described as regrettable, events leading to the death of seven persons during the December 7 2020 elections.
Appearing before the Appointment Committee of Parliament, Mr. Dery said investigations into the events is yet to be concluded and those found culpable in the killings will be dealt with.
He revealed that since the passage of the Vigilantism Act some persons have been prosecuted for abuses. He however could not give statistics of persons prosecuted.
Mr. Dery also refuted allegations that government was recruiting people into the security agencies.
He said in all the security services; the Immigration Service, Ghana National Fire Service, Prisons Service and Ghana Police Service advertised for recruitment and got more than 10 thousand applications.
Mr. Dery said the Ministry used a policy to clear the backlog of the people who qualified and has since ensured the security agencies advertised for recruitment every year.
