The directors of Miss Universe have finally confirmed the date for Miss Universe 2020 after the pageant was cancelled last year as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.
According to the Organisation, the pageant will be held on May 16, 2021 in the United States of America.
The exact location for the pageant is yet to be confirmed. However, the competition will be held in the span of 7 days starting May 9, 2021 and all safety protocols for the COVID-19 will be followed like Miss USA 2020 and Miss Teen USA 2020 competition.
An e-mail sent to the national directors read, “With the utmost respect and consideration for your hard work, after many internal discussions, in addition to consultations with health officials and immigration experts, we are pleased to announce we have set our schedule for the 69th Miss Universe competition to be held on 16th May 2021 in the United States. While we will have more information on the COVID protocols which we will need to follow in the coming weeks, we anticipate we will be observing the strict procedure we established and followed at the Miss USA event this past November, including a reduction in audience capacity.”
So far, only 67 candidates have been confirmed to partake in this year’s Miss Universe Pageant with the return of Ghana into the competition after they redrew from it in 2019.
The 69th pageant, will witness the crowning of a new queen by the reigning Miss Universe, Zozibini Tunzi from South Africa.
