The next Phase of Covid 19 Vaccination begins today, with about 90,000 health workers nationwide targeted for this exercise. This will cover both private and public health workers.
Director-General of the Ghana Health Service, Dr. Patrick Kumah Aboagye said the Service hopes that this phase will be conducted within a period of two weeks.
Meanwhile, Ghana needs about 42 million more doses of vaccine to be able to reach its target of vaccinating 20 million people by October 2021.
Dr Aboagye again stressed that the AstraZeneca vaccines are safe for use, allaying fears of the public.
Government says there is a gradual improvement in the Covid situation in the country. Director-General of the Ghana Health Service Dr. Patrick Kumah Aboagye giving an update on the country’s situation said active cases declined from over 8,000 to less than 3,500 over the past four weeks.
Daily reported cases have also reduced from 800 to about 250 over the past four weeks. Dr.Aboagye hoped the downward trend will continue going forward.
Per the latest update, Dr. Kuma-Aboagye said the situation at the Kotoka International Airport has also improved.
